Three Fareoese acts announced to Nürnberg Pop!
We are delighted to announce that Elinborg, Kóboykex, and Aggrasoppar are set to perform at the Nürnberg Pop Festival in October.
Nürnberg Pop is a prominent music and culture festival held annually in Nürnberg, Germany, and has been running for 13 years. It is one of Southern Germany's largest club and showcase festivals, attracting a diverse range of artists and music enthusiasts. The festival is somewhat reminiscent of Iceland Airwaves, with which we are already familiar, and takes place at various venues in Nürnberg's old town, including churches, museums, hotel lobbies, local bars, and modern clubs, showcasing genres like indie, pop, electro, rock, hip-hop, soul, folk, and jazz.
Nürnberg Pop has gained a reputation for being a lively and inclusive event, providing a platform for both established and emerging artists from various genres. The festival includes not only musical performances but also the Nürnberg Pop Conference, which brings together representatives from culture, politics, and the music industry to discuss important topics in pop culture, network, and hold workshops. The conference aims to create a low-threshold and inclusive environment for discussions on cultural and generational topics and typically has around 450 delegates participating (in addition to the regular audience).
We are now delighted to announce that Koboykex, Elinborg, and Aggrasoppar have been invited to the Nürnberg Pop Festival in October.
David Lodhi, who holds the title of Head of Booking and Festival Management, is excited about the new collaboration with the Faroe Islands:
"As a showcase festival that has been increasingly focusing on countries and markets outside the German-speaking world (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) for several years now, we are particularly impressed by the appeal and quality of artists from Northern Europe here in Central Europe. A visibly positive development is taking place here, which we believe is being supported in the right places. In the case of the Faroe Islands, it's no longer just figureheads like Eivør or Teitur that are on our radar. Thanks to the presence of Faroe Music Export at Great Escape (Brighton) and especially at Iceland Airwaves (Reykjavik), we have not only had the opportunity to discover great acts like Guðrið Hansdóttir, Joe & The Shitboys, or Marius DC in recent years and - in the case of the first two - to invite them to Nürnberg Pop. But we were also able to network directly with Faroe Music Export at the reception as part of Iceland Airwaves. At last year's reception, we came up with the idea of a concrete exchange, which we are putting into practice this year. We are very much looking forward to presenting three of the most exciting acts from the Faroe Islands to both the music industry and music lovers at Nürnberg Pop, and I was personally delighted to be invited to the G! Festival. In terms of sustainable, joint cooperation, I am sure that this is the starting signal for a great collaboration."
"This is a great collaboration that we are very much looking forward to and hope is the starting signal for Faroese artists to be welcome at the festival for a long time to come. It is also a fantastic opportunity to take the first steps needed to establish oneself in one of the world's largest music markets; Germany," says Glenn Larsen, Head of Faroe Music Export (FMX). "This is just one of the many exciting things happening ahead, and it is going to be a busy international autumn for the Faroese music industry," he continues enthusiastically. "There is much more to come."
Nürnberg Pop takes place from October 10th to 12th, 2024.
