Elinborg is aiming high!
We had a chat with Elinborg about her next steps.
Hi Elinborg!
First of all – who are you? Or, maybe a better question: who is Elinborg, the artist?
Hey! My name is Elinborg, and I’m an artist from the Faroe Island. Music has always been a big part of my life, and from a young age I started performing and writing my own songs, and I have been doing that ever since.
I create dark electronic pop music, and write all my lyrics in Faroese - The language, the people, the wild nature of where I come from is something that inspires me a lot as an artist, and something I always try to include in my musical univers.
I have released a few EP’s as well as I have toured a lot around Europe and Scandinavia, and now I’m currently working on my first full-length album, which will be released next year. I am very excited about that.
Welcome back from Iceland Airwaves, even if it has been a few months now. Did it go as expected?
Iceland Airwaves was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was a dream to perform there, and it warmed my heart to see so many people show up for my concert. The shows went great, and the energy in the venues was way over my expectations, it’s definitely an experience I hold close to my heart!
I hope I get to perform at Airwaves again some day.
How many days where you there for, and what did you do over there?
I was there for 4 days with my band, Jan Rúni Poulsen and Heðin Ziska Davidsen, and we enjoyed Reykjavik very much. We had amazing food, relaxed in the swimming pools, met up with some Icelandic friends, and most importantly played 2 unforgettable shows.
I’ve always had a love for Iceland, and actually stayed there for a month last year just to get inspired, and I wrote a lot of my upcoming songs there.
Did you meet any interesting people?
I did! I meet Utku, who runs a Nordic Culture and Art blog ‘’Nordik Simit’’. We had a really nice talk, and I got to do a Instagram take over on his profil, which gave me the opportunity to get my name and music to a broader audience, this was such a great experience. I also did an interview on their webside and have been in touch with Utku ever since, he’s such a cool guy!
You have also toured quite a bit with Eivør the last year. Tell us a bit about that?
Touring with my sister was such an inspiring and beautiful journey. We played 21 shows around Europe and it was so special to perform, and have my sister and best friend on the side lines. This was the first time I got the taste of what it’s like to be on the road, and I realized that this is what I wanted to do for as long as possible. We had so much fun, both on and behind the stage: you can imagine how silly and fun it can get, when two siblings travel together hehe!
What are the next steps for Elinborg? Please also let us know more about potential releases coming soon!
There’s a lot of exciting things happening. Right now I’m working on my debut full length album, which will be released next year! The new music has a dark electronic folk vibe to it, and I am very excited to share it with the world. You can expect to hear and see a lot of me next year hehe!
I also recently signed with booker Zoltan Jakab from ‘Doomstar bookings’ and Manager Erin Lynch from ‘A Flying Fox Management’, which is very exciting, and it feels amazing to have such a great team behind me for this upcoming album.
You ́re playing at The Great Escape in just a few weeks. What are your expectations and hopes for the showcase festival?
I first and foremost want to have fun and put on a great show! I also always look forward to meet people in the audience after my shows, to get some human interaction, so my hopes are to meet and connect with some great people.
Thanks, Elinborg! Best of luck!
