jazzygold aiming for an international career
First of all – who are you? Or, maybe a better question: who is jazzygold?
I am Jasmin Mote, a 24-year old making music and I just announced my solo project ‘’jazzygold’’.
jazzygold writes about the complex life of a young adult living her best life. She’s honest and real and it definitely shows in her voice, lyrics, music and visuals.
If there was a cocktail called jazzygold, the recipe would probably be something like this:
RnBsoulpopy vibes
Immaculate visuals
A lot of bling jewelry
Honesty
And of course hella catchy melodies
A new name and hopefully plenty of new music just around the corner. Why the new name?
Yes, many exciting stuff ahead.
Leaving the band ‘’JASMIN’’ and starting this new solo project is probably one of the hardest things i’ve ever done, but it needed to happen.
The band ‘’JASMIN ‘’ has always made all of the music together and when I travelled to Stockholm and made a shit ton of new music with new people it just didn’t feel right releasing it through the name ‘’JASMIN’’ cause that would kinda ruin what ‘’JASMIN’’ stood for and so on.
After months of thinking hard about what to do, it just felt right to make an solo project.
I really wanted to keep it simple and clean for the listeners and being very obvious about what was about to happen.
Welcome back from Trondheim Calling. Not bad to do an international showcase as your first official show, right? Did it go as expected?
Not too bad, no. I still can’t believe that was my debut concert. It actually went over all of my expectations, because you never know with these things, like are people going to show up? Are they going to like it? …And so on. I think these thoughts were heavy in my head especially when I haven’t released any music, but people did show up and loved it and I got a fantastic Norwegian review so I´m forever grateful for that night.
How many days where you there for, and what did you do over there?
I was there the whole festival, which was 3 days. I performed the first night so I was ready to go see some good live acts the next two days. But then I actually got booked to play a second show at the festival due to a cancellation, which was super awesome (not the cancellation of course, but getting to play a second show). The last night I went and saw some bands, vibed with my friends and talked to many new people before traveling to Stockholm to make more music.
Did you meet any interesting people?
I met a lot of interesting people for sure. It’s just amazing that showcase festivals exist because it’s the perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to people who can break your career or who want to work with you and that you never would have met outside of the showcase, so it’s hella cool.
Did you learn anything from the experience? Is there anything you should have done differently?
There are always stuff you can do differently, but i’m very proud of myself and how it went.
If there’s one thing I would have done differently, it was inviting way more delegates to my show, because it’s there you get the opportunity to show what you can do. But hey, you learn these things the more you do them.
What are the next steps for jazzygold? Please also let us know more about the releases coming soon!
We’re starting off with my debut single ‘’boring like me’’ that’s getting released 17th of February It will include a music video as well. Next off there is more music coming this year, more visuals and a beautiful debut concert in my home country as well (which is getting announced later this year). And then we take over the world bit by bit. So you just need to stay tuned <3
Thanks, jazzygold! And best of luck!
