FMX - Faroe Islands new export office

Faroese music enjoys greater reach, beyond the North Atlantic archipelago. To support this, the Faroe Islands have introduced a new music export office, Faroe Music Export (FMX), which will work to support all facets of Faroese music, as it connects to the international commercial marketplace.

Establishing and leading the effort is British native Fred Ruddick, who has a first class Honours degree in music from LIPA, and has worked as booker and creative director at G! Festival for four years.

“We are here both to project and make connections to our colleagues around the world,” says Fred. “Connecting an artist to an international agent - or any musical body to an international agency is not enough. We are here to support and develop locally, to cultivate succesful connections and opportunities for Faroese music.”

“Being in a remote location can be inspirational and creatively appealing, but we will work to further enable music to make Faroe Islands it's home, to maintain healthy international careers and presence. From the ground up as well, it’s about engaging and inspiring young people to be more industry-aware from the start, and to understand the tools and opportunities communication technology has provided us in the 21st century.”

FMX will work with musicians, record companies, events, broadcasters and cultural institutions, to support the entire musical platform in the Faroe Islands.
