Oyggjatónastovan : a new network in the Faroe Islands in collaboration with DJBFA : Danish Composers & Songwriters Union
more info here : https://www.djbfa.dk/
“Oyggjatónastovan”, which roughly translates to “Island-music living room”, is a new network created for music creators in the Faroe Islands in collaboration with DJBFA/Danish Composers and Songwriters. Founded in 1973, DJBFA is a society for composers, lyricists and producers, whose primary focus is to help ensure the best possible conditions for the creation of new music and lyrics in Denmark. As one component of this, they have set up several different networks in Denmark, with each network focusing on specific musical topics or genres. In collaboration with DJBFA, we introduce the first such network in the Faroe Islands.
The network “Oyggjatónastovan” will host recurring events, and is a forum for the creative process. The network is an opportunity to meet like-minded people on the music scene, gain some insight into production, songwriting, lyric-writing, the creative process, etc. The network is a “living room” in which to share your passion for the creation of music, gain inspiration and maybe even learn something new.
More about DJBFA:
Founded in 1973, DJBFA / Composers and Songwriters is a society for composers, songwriters, lyricists and producers, whose primary focus is to help ensure the best possible conditions for the creation of new music and lyrics in Denmark. DJBFA offer a wide range of activities and initiatives for its members, including camps, workshops, coaching, networks, financial and legal advice, etc. - all of which promote the social importance of music and its creation.
Furthermore DJBFA is working politically on behalf of the country’s composers and songwriters. This includes their being in ongoing dialogue with political parties in the Danish parliament, the Danish Ministry of Culture and several Scandinavian and international composers’ organisations etc.
DJBFA members over 25 pay an annual fee of 1,000 DKK, with Faroese residents paying 500 DKK. (Under 25’s can have free membership.)
DJBFA / Composers and Songwriters is represented in a number of national, Nordic and international organisations, all of which are working to strengthen music and to bring about the best possible conditions for composing new music and lyrics.
